Environmental awards announced in Poland for climate action and urban greenery

Poland has launched the national stage for the Green Cities Europe Award 2026, an international competition recognizing European projects that integrate plants as essential elements for environmental and social functions. Eligible entries include public spaces, parks, residential areas, and developer investments. A national jury will select one Polish project to represent the country at the European level. The competition evaluates biodiversity, climate impact, social benefits, and the integration of greenery with architecture.

Additionally, the Green Changer 2026 awards have been announced, honoring individuals and organizations for their contributions to climate protection and environmental awareness. The awards, presented during the Business PRECOP conference, recognized excellence across seven categories, including activism, journalism, science, and business solutions. Notable recipients include activist Dominika Lasota, journalist Marzena Figiel-Strzała, scientist Zbigniew Karaczun, and climate communicator Szymon Malinowski. The cities of Gdańsk and Rybnik were also honored in the 'City for Climate' category.
