Environmental Clean Technologies secures MXene deal and acquires Xenica

Environmental Clean Technologies (ECT) entered a 12‑month research, development and engineering partnership with Metallium and FlashMetals USA to test the Flash Joule Heating (FJH) process for MXene production at the Gator Point Technology Campus in Texas. The agreement provides ECT with a $500,000 upfront payment and up to $1.4 million in cash, plus options for 20 million ECT shares.

In a separate transaction, ECT announced the acquisition of Australian firm Xenica Materials Pty Ltd., securing an exclusive licence from Rice University for the same FJH technology. The deal is valued at 60 million ECT shares held in escrow for six months. ECT says the process can produce 250‑gram batches of MXenes in 30‑90 minutes, cutting costs by about 80 % compared with traditional methods that use hazardous chemicals.

MXenes are two‑dimensional transition‑metal carbides and nitrides with high electrical conductivity and low infrared emissivity, making them attractive for defense applications such as radar‑absorbing coatings. ECT expects the new supply capability to meet growing demand from defense agencies and related commercial programs.
