Environmental cleanup efforts remove waste in Brazil
Environmental cleanup initiatives in Brazil have resulted in significant waste removal across different ecosystems. In Ilha de Maré, Salvador, the Corais de Maré project—developed by the startup Carbono 14 and sponsored by Braskem—collected 37 kilograms of waste from the sand and mangroves of Praia Grande. The initiative included environmental education activities for local students to promote marine ecosystem conservation and community involvement.
In Jaraguá do Sul, the Clube de Canoagem Kentucky, in partnership with local government and civil defense agencies, removed approximately 700 kilograms of debris from the Jaraguá and Itapocu rivers during a recent mobilization. The waste included tires, furniture, metal structures, and various household items. This marks the third cleanup action by the club this year, bringing the total amount of waste removed from the region's rivers to nearly 1.8 tons in 2026.
