Aspromonte National Park: 90,000 euros in fines for illegal fires

Carabinieri Forestali units from the Aspromonte National Park have issued approximately 90,000 euros in administrative fines for illegal fires. The enforcement actions were conducted by specialized units in San Giorgio Morgeto, Gerace, Mammola, and Oppido Mamertina.

During periods of high wildfire risk, officers monitored the territory to prevent the unauthorized burning of agricultural residues, such as olive tree prunings and cleared vegetation. To enhance surveillance, authorities utilized drones to identify active combustions in remote or difficult-to-access agricultural areas that are hard to monitor via ground patrols alone.
