Environmental groups denounce ecological mismanagement in Spain

Environmental groups in Spain are raising alarms regarding ecological mismanagement in different regions. In Cuenca, Ecologistas en Acción has denounced the abandonment of the Enguídanos clean point facility. The site lacks effective fencing and specific waste containers, leading to uncontrolled dumping in the Serranía Baja area. This situation poses risks to public health through pests and odors, as well as potential fire hazards and leachate filtration into the Cabriel river's groundwater.

In Murcia, the Asamblea Ciudadana Playa de La Isla de Mazarrón and Ecologistas en Acción have reported environmental damage near the Isla de Adentro, a protected marine area. They cite unregulated jet ski use and boat parties as major concerns. These activities contribute to noise pollution and physical danger to swimmers. Furthermore, irregular anchoring is causing significant damage to protected Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows, which can take decades to recover from such disturbances.
