Environmental groups oppose industrial projects in Italy
Environmental organizations in Italy are raising objections to large-scale land use projects. In Grosseto, the group Sentinella della Maremma has submitted observations to the Tuscany Region regarding the ‘Laurus’ project. Proposed by Auriga S. r. l., a subsidiary of Volt Energia S. r. l., the agrivoltaic initiative aims to install 59,046 photovoltaic modules across 62.44 hectares of agricultural land. Critics argue the project functions as an industrial plant rather than an agricultural one, noting its technical similarities to the previously proposed ‘Drea’ project.
In San Benedetto del Tronto, the Legambiente local chapter is protesting against the potential development of a new commercial center in the Brancadoro area. The association is calling on the municipal administration to preserve the site as a public green space. They propose transforming the area into a ‘Social Park’ featuring recreational centers for youth and the elderly, outdoor sports areas, and cultural spaces, rather than allowing further urban expansion and commercial speculation.
