Environmental incidents reported in Chubut and Río Negro

In Chubut, Argentina, the provincial government's Secretariat of Environment inspected environmental sanitation efforts following an oil spill by the company CAPSA at the Diadema deposit in Comodoro Rivadavia. The cleanup involves repairing the leak, replacing pipelines, recovering liquid material, and removing over 200 cubic meters of soil. Authorities have demanded that CAPSA present an installation integrity maintenance plan and report on its environmental investment progress, noting that this is not the first environmental contingency at sites operated by the company.

In Río Negro, the Provincial Water Department (DPA) fined Terminal de Servicios Portuarios Patagonia Norte S.A. for performing unauthorized filling activities near the coast of San Antonio Este. Inspectors found leveling and filling work occurring below the shoreline limit, which marks the boundary between public and private domains. The company stated the work was intended to repair terrain eroded by rainwater, but it proceeded without the necessary permits. Patagonia Norte has announced plans to remove the material to restore the natural landscape.
