Environmental initiatives held in Musei and Paola

Community-led ecological events took place in the Musei pine forest and the Palombara area of Paola to promote environmental awareness and territory care.

In Musei, the “Percorsi d’Autismo” event combined ethnobotanical exploration with ecological action. Led by environmental guide Luca Cuccu, participants explored edible and medicinal plants traditional to Sardinia. The event also included a waste collection activity organized by Plastic Free, involving over twenty participants, including athletes with intellectual disabilities from Aurora Basket of Cagliari.

In the Palombara zone of Paola, OIPA Cosenza organized a cleaning day in collaboration with Mare Pulito, Plastic Free, and Pro Loco Castrum Paulae. While the initiative demonstrated community engagement, organizers noted a significant amount of abandoned waste, which they attributed to a lack of environmental education. OIPA plans to continue monitoring the Paolano Apennines for waste and abandoned animals, with a follow-up cleaning day scheduled for November 15.
