Environmental initiatives in Brazil focus on urban planting and climate adaptation

In Curitiba, the municipal government is distributing free tree seedlings as part of the ‘Meio Milhão de Árvores’ (Half a Million Trees) program. The initiative aims to plant 500,000 trees by the end of 2028, with 287,000 already planted since January 2025. Residents can collect seedlings, including 60% fruit-bearing varieties such as jabuticaba, guabiroba, pitangueira, and wild peach, at the Rua da Cidadania.

Meanwhile, the 5th ‘Paisagismo para Todos 2026’ (Landscaping for All) Congress took place in Jaguariúna, São Paulo. Held at the Ceaflor commercial hub, the event focused on ‘New Paths’ in landscaping, emphasizing climate change adaptation, the valorization of Brazilian flora, and urban planning strategies to mitigate environmental impacts. The congress brought together professionals and researchers to discuss plant physiology, nutrition, and integrated nature solutions.
