Environmental initiatives in Brazil promote reforestation and urban greening
Various regional initiatives in Brazil are focusing on environmental preservation through the distribution and planting of seedlings. In Mato Grosso, the Court of Accounts (TCE-MT) concluded its Energy Efficiency Awareness Week by distributing fruit, native, and ornamental seedlings to staff. The institution's nursery aims to distribute ten thousand seedlings throughout 2026. The TCE-MT, which has maintained ISO 50001 certification since 2015, is also expanding its impact through partnerships with the Court of Justice and the City of Cuiabá for environmental education and urban reforestation.
In the municipality of Casimiro de Abreu, a partnership between the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture and Fisheries (Semap) and the State Water and Sewage Company (Cedae) has secured 1,450 forest and fruit seedlings. These will be used for urban afforestation, environmental recovery, and supporting local farmers. The project aims to create green corridors and protect water resources by planting species such as cashew, guava, and jabuticaba in strategic urban areas and districts like Barra de São João.
