Environmental officials address high ozone levels in Żywiec Basin

The Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection (GIOŚ) has responded to concerns raised by local councilors regarding high ozone levels in the Żywiec Basin. Officials noted that during late July and early August, high and very high concentrations of ground-level ozone were recorded at nearly all monitoring stations during midday and afternoon hours.

According to Deputy Chief Inspector Marek Kajs, these high concentrations affected much of the country, including nearly the entire Silesian Voivodeship, rather than being localized to Żywiec. The spike in ozone was attributed to sustained high temperatures lasting nearly three weeks and the influx of ozone from outside Poland's borders.
