Environmental remediation projects launched in Jujuy and Panama City

In Argentina, the Jujuy Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has launched a new phase of remediation for open-air landfills in the Valles Zone. The ministry signed two contracts with MOVISER S.R.L. for an investment exceeding $5.182 billion pesos. The project focuses on the Perico landfill and its satellite sites, aiming to remove accumulated waste, eliminate contamination sources, and recover the land. The plan includes the construction of a security cell in Perico featuring waterproofing systems, groundwater monitoring, and emission controls.

In Panama, the Panama City Hall has initiated an environmental recovery operation targeting the Matías Hernández and Río Abajo rivers, as well as coastal areas, mangroves, and the Panama Bay. The intervention involves solid waste extraction and the cleaning of contaminated areas to prevent debris from reaching the sea. The project utilizes drones and technology to identify waste accumulation points and includes sanitary prevention measures to reduce mosquito breeding sites associated with dengue.

Both initiatives involve multi-agency cooperation and aim to improve long-term environmental health and public safety through improved waste management and ecosystem restoration.
