Environmental risks prompt calls for relocation and infrastructure aid in Mexico

In the community of Zapotitlán, local authorities are calling for state government intervention through Civil Protection to relocate 12 families. Severe beach erosion caused by heavy waves has left several homes on the verge of collapse, placing residents in high-risk zones. Municipal agent Israel González Lorenzo noted that the community currently lacks available land to facilitate these relocations.

In Ensenada, Mayor Claudia Agatón has requested assistance from Conagua to clean local streams, specifically La Munguía and del Gallo, ahead of forecasted rains. The administration is working to prevent further damage following previous weather events that rendered more than 280 homes uninhabitable. Local authorities are currently conducting a census of affected families in high-risk areas such as El Salitral and Lomas de San Fernando to manage resources and provide shelter.
