Environmental waste issues reported in Arad and Carei
Environmental authorities have uncovered significant waste dumping in Arad, Romania. Inspectors from the Environmental Guard discovered over 470 tons of waste on an unfenced plot of land, including plastic masses, automotive components, medical waste, plant debris, and used oil. Additionally, more than 120 liters of hazardous waste were found spilled directly onto the soil. A criminal investigation has been opened to identify those responsible.
In Carei, the local municipality has revised its previous stance regarding the disposal of household plant waste. Following public reports and local media scrutiny, the Carei City Hall acknowledged the existence of a waste pit on Calea Armatei Române. The administration has withdrawn previous threats of local police intervention against residents for depositing plant waste on public property, stating that a special deposit facility has been established and necessary permits have been obtained.
