Environmental workshops and regional meetings focus on Chilean wetlands

Various environmental initiatives are underway in Chile to promote the protection and study of wetland ecosystems. In the Valparaíso region, a bird sound recording workshop was held at the Cartagena Wetland. Organized by the ROC Nuclei of the Valparaíso and Metropolitan regions, GrabandoAves Chile, and the Cartagena Wetland, the session provided participants with theoretical and practical training in recording avian vocalizations, using equipment such as omnidirectional microphones and parabolas, and editing audio with specialized software to contribute to citizen science via eBird.

In the Biobío region, the First Regional Meeting of Wetlands will continue on October 24 and 25 in Concepción and Coronel. The event aims to bring together socio-environmental organizations and specialists to raise awareness about ecosystem protection. Activities include a seminar at the University of Concepción featuring discussions on Mapuche worldview and citizen experiences, as well as workshops in Coronel focused on communication, the environment, and community participation.
