EODY reports COVID-19 death and 33 hospitalizations in Greece

According to the latest epidemiological report from EODY for the week of August 24 to August 30, 2026, hospitalizations due to influenza and COVID-19 have shown a downward trend since the beginning of the year.

During this seven-day period, a total of 33 new hospitalizations were recorded: 17 due to COVID-19 and 16 due to influenza. While COVID-19 hospitalizations decreased slightly from 20 the previous week, one new death from the virus was reported. No new intubations were recorded for COVID-19.

Regarding influenza, there were 16 new hospitalizations compared to 14 the previous week. One severe case of laboratory-confirmed influenza type A involving a 67-year-old woman required ICU admission. Additionally, one retrospective case from week 33/2026 was reported as having entered the ICU.
