Energy subsidy programs face scrutiny in Romania and Moldova

In Romania, the 'Casa Verde Baterii' government program, designed to encourage the installation of energy storage systems for renewable energy, is facing criticism from existing prosumers. Users who have already invested in storage technologies feel excluded from the benefits, arguing that the policy is counterproductive and fails to reward those who have already transitioned toward sustainability.

Meanwhile, in the Republic of Moldova, the EcoVoucher program is conducting its sixth session of the year, running until September 13. Eligible households, including those with minors, pensioners, or persons with disabilities, can receive vouchers worth up to 6,000 lei to replace old appliances with energy-efficient models. The vouchers cover up to 70% of the price of qualifying items, such as class A washing machines and specific refrigerators.
