E.ON Italia opens new headquarters in Milan's MIND district

E.ON Italia has inaugurated its new headquarters at Horizon within the MIND – Milano Innovation District. This move strengthens the company’s presence in an ecosystem focused on research, innovation, and technological development.

As an energy partner for the district, E.ON utilizes ectogrid, a low-temperature smart grid developed by E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions. This system shares thermal and cooling energy between buildings by leveraging local residual heat. The network is optimized by ectocloud, a digital platform that employs machine learning and data to coordinate interactions between buildings and energy sources.

In its current configuration involving the Mo.Lo. hub and the Horizon building, ectogrid is estimated to reduce energy consumption by 55.6% and avoid approximately 285 tons of CO2 annually. The infrastructure is designed to expand alongside new buildings within the district, following a collaboration with Lendlease that began in 2020.
