Eon reports lower first-half investments due to weather delays
Energy group Eon reported that investments in energy infrastructure and digitalization totaled approximately 3 billion euros in the first half of the year, representing a 7 percent decrease compared to the previous year. The company attributed this decline to weather-related delays at the beginning of the year but stated it intends to catch up on these investments during the remainder of the year.
These delays have impacted earnings growth, as Eon’s operating profit is heavily linked to the expansion of the energy grid. The adjusted EBITDA rose slightly to 5.4 billion euros in the first half, while adjusted profit increased by 5 percent to 1.9 billion euros. Despite the investment dip, management confirmed its annual targets and maintains a plan to invest 8.7 billion euros by 2026.
