EOS Defense Systems USA to begin U.S. production of Slinger counter-drone system

EOS Defense Systems USA has announced plans to begin serial production of its next-generation Slinger counter-drone system in the United States by 2027. The company intends to expand its facility in Huntsville, Alabama, to manufacture the remote weapon system, which is currently in the final stages of development.

The upgraded Slinger will feature improved sensing capabilities and selectable autonomy, including autonomous kill chain functions designed to address drone threats that may outpace human operators. The system will be fully stabilized to engage both drones and ground threats from a single weapon station while in motion.

In a related move to bolster defense capabilities, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth issued a memorandum aimed at accelerating the deployment of counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS). The directive instructs Department of War components to remove obstacles in four key areas: operating and connection authorities, spectrum access, and weapons safety reviews. The goal is to reduce approval times for tested systems to days or weeks through a centralized departmentwide process.
