EPA appoints Nicole Tachiki to lead Long Island Sound Partnership

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has appointed Nicole (Nikki) Tachiki as the new director of the Long Island Sound Partnership. The announcement was made by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin during a regional tour in Port Jefferson.

Tachiki has been a key figure within the partnership, having served as its strategic planning coordinator for several years. Her previous experience includes roles as a drinking water specialist, acting section supervisor in the Drinking Water and Groundwater Protection Section, and a special assistant to the Regional Administrator. She has also worked with the National Audubon Society and the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

The Long Island Sound Partnership is a collaborative effort involving federal, state, and local agencies, as well as various stakeholders, dedicated to the restoration and protection of the estuary. The program aims to ensure clean water and healthy ecosystems for the New York and Connecticut regions.
