EPCG reports 175 million euro electricity debt in Montenegro

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) reports that unpaid electricity bills have reached a total debt of approximately 175 million euros. Last year, the company recorded 3.39 million euros in interest due to late payments, with households accounting for nearly 2.45 million euros of that amount.

By the end of 2025, household debt exceeded 112 million euros, while other consumers owed approximately 62.6 million euros. EPCG noted that debts older than five years amount to roughly 71 million euros, some of which are currently subject to legal proceedings. The company stated that these delays hinder cash flow, affecting supplier payments, investments, and system maintenance.

Geographically, the highest household debt was recorded in Podgorica and Danilovgrad, totaling 47.47 million euros, while the lowest was in Mojkovac at approximately 677,162 euros. As of August 5, 2026, 10,035 active consumers had been disconnected due to non-payment.
