EPDK introduces new branding rules for energy companies
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has introduced new regulations regarding the use of brands and titles by supply and aggregator companies in the electricity market. Under the amended Electricity Market Licensing Regulation, supply license holders—other than designated supply companies—are prohibited from using the regional names of distribution license holders in their company titles. Additionally, these companies may not use the same brands or logos as distribution companies.
These restrictions also apply to companies holding aggregator licenses. Companies currently in violation of these new rules have been granted a transition period until December 31, 2026, to align their branding and titles with the new requirements.
The regulation also modifies provisions regarding the obligations of pre-license and license holders. Legal entities that fail to comply with the regulations or fail to meet obligations set by the EPDK Board may face sanctions as prescribed under Article 16 of the Electricity Market Law.
