EPFO outlines interest credit schedule and adds 1.9 million new members
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) confirmed that the 8.25 % interest rate for FY 2025‑26 will be credited to members’ accounts in the third quarter, pending formal approval from the central government. No exact date has been set, and the organisation reassured that any administrative delay will not affect the accrued interest. Members can track the credit through the Umang app, the EPFO portal, missed‑call service or SMS.
In June, EPFO reported a surge of 19.29 lakh (1.929 million) new members, a 7.86 % rise from the previous year. About 10.25 lakh joined for the first time, with 59 % aged 18‑25, while 14.15 lakh former members re‑enrolled. The body highlighted recent digital upgrades, including a unified member portal for online personal‑detail updates and e‑nomination, backed by Aadhaar‑linked e‑sign and OTP verification to reduce processing errors.
