EPFO introduces E-PRAAPTI portal and updates UAN activation process

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is implementing several digital updates to its services. The organization is expected to launch E-PRAAPTI (EPF Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts), a new digital platform designed to help members identify, link, and claim funds from old or inactive provident fund accounts to their Universal Account Number (UAN).

In a separate update regarding security and process changes, the EPFO has discontinued UAN activation and new UAN generation on its unified member portal. These processes must now be completed exclusively through the Umang mobile application using mandatory Aadhaar-based Face Authentication (FAT).

Additionally, members are encouraged to use the EPFO portal to monitor their EPF passbooks via their UAN to ensure that employer contributions are being correctly deposited into their accounts.
