Epic Games pushes cross‑game item sharing, adds Olivia Rodrigo to Fortnite

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said developers should adopt a “shared economy” that lets players move items, DLC and cosmetics between different games. He highlighted the upcoming Unreal Engine 6 as the tool to enable this cross‑game functionality and criticized the closed ecosystems of major console makers. Sweeney added, “If people keep looking for new games and items they can get everywhere and share with friends, it could drive the market.”

The company also announced new Fortnite cosmetics featuring American singer‑songwriter Olivia Rodrigo. Two character skins and two emotes linked to Rodrigo’s songs will become available in the game’s virtual store on Thursday.
