EPICA-DIPG consortium launches European immunotherapy trial for pediatric brain tumor

The EPICA-DIPG consortium has been established under the Horizon Europe Cancer Mission to test innovative immunotherapy for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a highly aggressive and lethal pediatric brain tumor. Coordinated by the Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona, the five-year project aims to evaluate new therapeutic strategies for children and adolescents.

In addition to clinical trials, the project will develop diagnostic strategies for minimally invasive monitoring of immune responses. It also seeks to create a cross-border model for the centralized production and distribution of advanced therapies to participating hospitals, potentially improving accessibility to complex treatments. Key partners include Rome’s Bambino Gesù IRCCS and the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht.
