EpiClave initiative focuses on improving epilepsy care in Spain

The EpiClave initiative, supported by Angelini Pharma, has convened representatives from various Spanish epilepsy associations in Madrid to address challenges in epilepsy care. The project focuses on integrating the lived experiences of patients and their families into the design and organization of healthcare services.

Rather than introducing new medical treatments or clinical protocols, EpiClave aims to understand the daily realities of those living with epilepsy, noting that the condition impacts education, employment, social relationships, emotional well-being, and family dynamics. The initiative seeks to strengthen the role of patient associations and ensure their needs are central to healthcare discussions.

Participating organizations include the Unión Galega de Epilepsia (UGADE), the Asociación de Personas con Epilepsia de Castilla y León (ASPECYL), the Asociación Aragonesa de Epilepsia (ASADE), Guerreros Púrpura, and the Associació Menorquina d’Epilèpsia (AMEP), with collaboration from the Federación Española de Epilepsia (FEDE).
