Greek wildfires cancel 'The Trojans' at Epidaurus ancient theater

The National Theatre of Greece announced the cancellation of the evening performance of Euripides' "The Trojans" (translated by Giannis Tsarouchi and directed by Eleni Efthymiou) at the ancient theater of Epidaurus. The decision was made after fire authorities warned that ongoing wildfires in the Argolis region made the venue unsafe.

Ticket holders will receive automatic refunds for online purchases. Those who bought tickets with cash or POS can claim refunds at the Athens‑Epidaurus Festival box offices in Syntagma Square and at Peiraios 260, Monday to Friday, 10:00‑18:00. Patrons may also exchange tickets for the scheduled Saturday performance on 1 August, which will go ahead.

The cancelled show was set to be the first fully accessible performance at Epidaurus, allowing audiences with sensory disabilities to attend. The wildfires have affected dozens of locations across Greece, prompting evacuations and a large firefighting response.
