EPIK disability federation confronts cut in strategic partnership funding

EPIK’s executive director Maarja Krais‑Leosk warned that the organization’s strategic partnership funding for the coming year will be reduced. The current allocation has dropped to €1.35 million, down from the €1.5 million received previously, while the federation argues that €1.8 million would be realistic based on Statistical Office data. Krais‑Leosk stressed that the funding cut threatens the ability to continue advocacy work for people with disabilities. She noted that the shortfall is linked to decisions by local authorities and state institutions. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications replied that it does not see a possibility to support EPIK further.

The statement reflects broader concerns among non‑governmental organisations about reduced public financing and its impact on service provision for disabled communities in Estonia.
