Eppu Normaali concludes 50-year career with Tampere farewell concerts

The legendary Finnish rock band Eppu Normaali concluded its 50-year career with a series of three sold-out farewell concerts at Ratina Stadium in Tampere, drawing nearly 100,000 attendees. The marathon performances featured over 40 songs, spanning the band's extensive discography, including classics such as "Murheellisten laulujen maa" and "Vuonna ’85."

The events were attended by notable figures, including former President Sauli Niinistö and his spouse Jenni Haukio, as well as current President Alexander Stubb. During the performances, pianist Iiro Rantala joined the band, providing new musical elements through piano solos. However, Rantala caused a stir when he intentionally smashed a accordion on stage after performing "Pimeyden tango."

Over its five-decade history, Eppu Normaali has sold approximately 1.5 million records and received the Suomi-palkinto for its significant contribution to Finnish rock music. The band's successful run was also financially significant, with reports indicating they earned two million euros in profit last year.
