Eppu Normaali to End 50‑Year Touring Career with Final Concerts in Tampere

Finnish rock group Eppu Normaali announced that its 50‑year‑long touring career will conclude with a three‑night farewell series at Ratinan Stadium in Tampere on August 6‑8, 2024. The concerts, which have sold out, mark the end of a run that began in the mid‑1970s and produced 15 studio albums and roughly 1.5 million records sold.

Lead vocalist and lyricist Martti Syrjä said the decision was driven by a desire to retire on his own terms rather than health pressures. He described the final shows as “bittersweet,” noting plans to focus on writing and other artistic projects after the band’s last performance. The band’s members, including brothers Martti and Mikko “Pantse” Syrjä, will bow out together, closing a chapter that has been described as a unique period in Finnish music history.
