eQ-3 announces major Homematic IP ecosystem updates
eQ-3 is expanding the Homematic IP smart home ecosystem through significant software and hardware updates scheduled for late October 2026. The Home Control Unit will receive an update to version 1.8.10, introducing support for third-party partner plugins. This allows external providers to integrate their solutions directly into the system. Additionally, new plugins for Modbus and MQTT standards will enable the integration of energy management devices such as inverters, storage systems, heat pumps, and wallboxes.
The Homematic IP app will be updated to version 3.9.13, introducing geofencing capabilities that use smartphone locations to trigger automations, such as lowering thermostats or locking doors when the last person leaves. The update also brings support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing users to access garage door controls, alarm statuses, and security alerts directly via vehicle infotainment displays. Other improvements include enhanced security camera setup assistants and streamlined administrator rights transfers.
