EQT and Norges Bank form consortium to bid for Acciona Energía

Swedish private equity firm EQT has formed a consortium with Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) to bid for Acciona Energía, the renewable energy division of the Spanish group Acciona. The partnership aims to acquire 100% of the company, which is currently 91% owned by Acciona.

Acciona Energía is valued at approximately 11 billion euros, including debt, based on current market prices. The proposed consortium structure would see EQT’s infrastructure division holding roughly 75% of the stake, with NBIM holding the remaining 25%.

The bid faces competition from the French private equity firm Ardian, which is also analyzing the operation through its infrastructure division. Other potential interested parties include Brookfield and various international and domestic utility companies. Following the news of the alliance, shares of Acciona saw a significant increase on the stock market, rising by more than 3% during morning trading.
