Equality plans drive organizational change in businesses

Companies are increasingly adopting equality plans to improve governance and organizational structure. While legislation in some regions mandates these plans for businesses with 50 or more employees, smaller entities are also encouraged to implement them to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment, and to ensure equal opportunities for men and women.

In Andorra, equality plans have been mandatory for companies with more than 50 workers since November 2023, yet approximately 20% of eligible companies have not yet complied. The government has previously focused on pedagogical support, but there is growing discussion regarding the need for clear deadlines and potential sanctions for non-compliance by February.

To encourage adoption, new regulations include incentives for companies that exceed minimum requirements. These entities may receive special distinctions and positive evaluations in public procurement processes and subsidy applications. The goal is to move beyond administrative formalities toward effective measures that address real inequalities in recruitment, promotion, and pay.
