Equans Chile backs Expomin 2027, promotes safety and tech in Chilean mining

Equans Chile confirmed its role as Main Sponsor of Expomin 2027, the leading mining fair in Latin America, for the third consecutive year. The company said the partnership reinforces its commitment to a more sustainable, safe and innovative mining sector, offering services such as electrical and instrumentation maintenance, high‑voltage transmission, HVAC, EPC projects, and solutions like the Trolley Assist for electrifying mining trucks. CEO Denis Girault highlighted Equans’ digital and solar‑storage divisions as tools for the industry’s energy transition.

In a related commentary, Jorge Morales Guzmán, general manager of Horux Latam, warned that mining productivity in Chile depends heavily on road safety. He noted the sector supports over a million jobs—about 11.5% of the national workforce—and that many workers travel on isolated routes. He urged the adoption of driver‑assistance technologies, AI‑based risk monitoring and real‑time data analytics to detect fatigue, distraction and dangerous behaviour, arguing that such measures are essential for protecting workers and maintaining operational efficiency.
