Equatorial Pará funds Juruti Tribal Festival; Amazonas backs Manacapuru Cirandas

The electric utility Equatorial Pará pledged a R$ 500,000 sponsorship for the 2026 edition of the Festival das Tribos de Juruti in the western Pará region. The ceremony, held on 28 April in the tribal courts of the Muirapinima and Munduruku peoples, was attended by company representatives, tribal leaders and municipal officials. The funding is intended to support cultural preservation, boost tourism and create economic opportunities for local artisans and entrepreneurs.

Separately, the Government of Amazonas announced a total investment of R$ 3.9 million for the 2026 Festival de Cirandas de Manacapuru. Each of the three competing agremiações – Flor Matizada, Guerreiros Mura and Tradicional – will receive roughly R$ 1.3 million, an increase from the previous edition. The state governor, Roberto Cidade, highlighted the aim of strengthening the festival, generating jobs and reinforcing Amazonian cultural identity. The three‑day event is scheduled for 28–30 August in Parque do Ingá, Manacapuru, and includes pre‑festival performances in Manaus.
