Equinor and Uniper have signed a 15-year natural gas supply agreement to bolster Germany’s energy security. Under the terms of the contract, Equinor will deliver more than 30 terawatt-hours of gas annually to Uniper, starting on January 1, 2027, and continuing through December 31, 2041.

The gas, which amounts to approximately 2.8 billion cubic meters per year, will be transported to Germany via existing pipeline infrastructure. While the specific financial details of the deal remain confidential, the agreement marks a significant long-term commitment between the Norwegian producer and the German energy company.

Norway remains Germany’s most critical natural gas supplier, providing roughly 44 percent of its gas via pipelines as of 2025. This new partnership extends the commercial relationship between the two entities well into the 2040s, reinforcing Norway’s role as a cornerstone of European energy stability.
