Equus Energy signs 10-year gas supply deal with Alcoa

Equus Energy has signed a binding 10-year gas sales agreement (GSA) with Alcoa, establishing the aluminium producer as the foundation domestic customer for the proposed Equus gas project in Western Australia.

Under the agreement, Equus will supply approximately 50 terajoules per day of gas, totaling roughly 182 petajoules over the contract term. Based on indicative prices, the deal is valued between $1.1 billion and $1.46 billion. The project is located approximately 200km northwest of Onslow on the North West Shelf.

The agreement is part of a broader arrangement that provides Equus with up to US$30 million in funding to support front-end engineering design (FEED) and progress toward a final investment decision (FID). The deal also helps Equus meet domestic gas supply commitments under Western Australia’s Domestic Gas Reservation Policy.
