Eradicate Hate Global Summit addresses violence and discourse in Pittsburgh

The Eradicate Hate Global Summit is currently taking place in Pittsburgh, focusing on strategies to prevent hate-fueled violence and the challenges of community healing.

During the second day of the summit, speakers addressed the link between declining democracy and rising hate. Shari Redstone, president of the Redstone Family Foundation, emphasized the importance of using content to foster civil discussion and common ground, citing educational programs that highlight historical cooperation between Black and Jewish Americans.

CNN host Van Jones discussed the role of digital platforms—including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube—in contributing to the breakdown of truth and the rise of conspiracy theories. Meanwhile, Eradicate Hate president Brette Steele noted that the nonprofit is having to “get creative” in response to cuts in federal grants.
