Erasmo Carlos heirs allege suspicious bank transfers

The children of the late Brazilian singer Erasmo Carlos, Leonardo and Gil Esteves, have filed a criminal complaint with the Rio de Janeiro Fraud Police Station regarding suspicious bank transfers from their father's account.

The heirs allege that R$ 300,000 was transferred to an account belonging to the singer's widow, Fernanda Passos, on November 22, 2022, the same day the 81-year-old artist passed away. According to the complaint, the transaction occurred while the singer was still in the hospital. A second transfer of R$ 45,000 was reportedly made weeks later to cover legal services hired by Passos.

The total amount in question is R$ 345,000. The heirs argue that because the account belonged exclusively to the singer, any movement of funds following his death requires a judicial authorization under Brazilian law. Their lawyers suggested the actions could be investigated as embezzlement and qualified theft through abuse of trust. The heirs are requesting a police inquiry and for Passos to be questioned regarding the restitution of the funds to the estate. As of the report, Passos has not commented on the matter.
