Erasmus MC implements new programmatic assessment in medical curriculum

Erasmus MC has implemented a new medical curriculum titled ErasmusArts2030, which focuses on programmatic assessment. Floor van Rosse, an associate professor of drug education and cluster leader for the Erasmus Doctor 2030 assessment, describes the initiative as a significant redesign of three full bachelor years.

The program aims to move toward a more integrated way of developing, valuing, and evaluating student skills. By working with advisors from Risbo, the institution is preparing its teaching staff for this new method of assessment. Van Rosse noted that while the process involves pioneering work to find feasible solutions for large student numbers, the goal is to provide high-quality, customized assessment that accurately demonstrates a student's ability to prescribe medication effectively as a future doctor.
