Erba Hospital maternity ward to close following regional approval

The Lombardy Region has approved the suspension of maternity services at Erba Hospital. The birth center is expected to remain operational until the end of October, after which only outpatient pregnancy check-ups will be available at the facility.

Following the closure, patients will be redirected to other birth centers within the regional network, specifically in Como or Lecco. ATS Insubria and Lifenet Healthcare have stated that continuity of care will be maintained, ensuring that women already under the hospital's care during pregnancy will be supported and guided through the transition to the designated birth locations.
