A 64-year-old woman with a disability was found dead in the private swimming pool of her villa in Erba, in the province of Como. The body was discovered around 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 27, by her 76-year-old former husband, who lives in the same residence.
The woman’s wheelchair was found by the poolside. While the former husband attempted to provide aid and alerted emergency services, medical personnel could only confirm her death upon arrival. Preliminary findings by the Carabinieri suggest there were no obvious signs of violence on the body, leading to the hypothesis that the woman may have struggled after entering the water and drowned.
The Como Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation and ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The villa and the pool have been seized as part of the inquiry, which is being conducted by the Erba Carabinieri and the Como operational department's investigative unit.
