Erdoğan addresses cabinet on national identity and foreign policy
Following a cabinet meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed several domestic and international issues. He emphasized Turkey's commitment to its historical identity, rejecting historical interpretations that attempt to separate the Republic of Türkiye from its Seljuk and Ottoman roots, labeling such views as malicious “social engineering projects.”
On the international stage, Erdoğan stated that Turkey will not be deterred by those uncomfortable with the country's strengthening or its efforts to establish regional peace and stability. He remarked, “We will not allow anyone to perform surgery on these lands,” referring to external attempts to encircle or undermine the nation.
Regarding economic and diplomatic relations, Erdoğan highlighted Turkey's participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Bishkek Summit. He noted the SCO's contribution to a multipolar world and expressed intentions to expand the $150 billion trade volume between Turkey and the organization. Additionally, he confirmed that authorities are monitoring search and rescue and legal processes following recent maritime accidents involving a passenger ship off Girne and a cargo ship in Silivri.
