Erdoğan discusses Mecca Joint Defense Agreement

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has addressed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, stating that the pact is a result of new regional conditions and a sense of shared responsibility. In an interview with the London-based newspaper Sharku’l Avsat, Erdoğan emphasized that the agreement does not target any specific country and is open to all brotherly nations seeking peace, prosperity, and stability in the region.

Erdoğan noted that the initiative aims to allow regional actors to solve their own issues, marking a significant step toward local autonomy in conflict resolution. He highlighted that the agreement, involving Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, represents a historic responsibility to ensure the peace and tranquility of neighboring peoples. He further expressed that Turkey is willing to increase the number of participating countries to strengthen dialogue and mutual trust.
