Erdogan responds to Netanyahu's UN speech, calling for war criminals to face courts
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued a sharp response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the latter's recent speech at the United Nations. Speaking at the MUSIAD EXPO and International Business Forum in Istanbul, Erdogan stated that “war criminals” belong in courtrooms rather than at the UN podium to face justice for their actions.
Erdogan emphasized that unless perpetrators of genocide are held accountable by law and history, similar atrocities will repeat. He expressed continued support for the Palestinian people in Gaza and criticized the current global system for its lack of legitimacy and justice. This follows Netanyahu's UN address, during which he accused Turkey of being a hub for spreading anti-Semitic lies and labeled Erdogan a “tyrant.”
During the same event, Erdogan also highlighted Turkey's economic performance, noting that the nation is currently the 16th largest economy globally and the 6th largest in Europe. He reported that the number of Turkish exporting companies has increased from 33,000 in 2002 to 168,000 in 2025.
