Erenköy Resistance 62nd anniversary commemorated with ceremony
A ceremony was held at the Erenköy Martyrdom to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the Erenköy Resistance, a pivotal moment in the struggle for the existence of the Turkish Cypriot people.

A reenactment was performed to honor the "Bereketçiler," the individuals who carried out risky maritime shipments of personnel, weapons, and ammunition from mainland Turkey to Erenköy during the resistance. The ceremony also specifically honored Captain Cengiz Topel, a Turkish Air Force pilot who was killed during the conflict.
In his address, President Erhürman emphasized the unity shown by young people during the conflict, noting that they prioritized the survival of their community over their own futures. He highlighted the importance of the bond between Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot people, describing the resistance as a turning point in their history.
