Ankara and Sinop authorities face legal developments
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against former Mayor Melih Gökçek, his family, and close associates. ABB lawyer Nadi Türkaslan characterized the group as a ‘criminal organization’ accused of the illegal use of public resources, assets, and real estate. The complaint alleges that the group utilized a television channel and sports clubs to facilitate their activities and seeks an investigation into the group's wealth.
Separately, in Sinop's Erfelek district, a judicial investigation has been launched following a confrontation between District Governor Ali Tuğrul Yıldız and a gendarmerie protection officer, N. A. The incident, which reportedly occurred during preparations for Victory Day celebrations, involved mutual allegations of ‘insult’, ‘threat’, and ‘attempted intentional injury’. While the dispute reportedly escalated from a verbal argument into a physical altercation, the Sinop Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that no detention orders have been issued as the investigation continues.
