Erfurt sculpture of Bernd das Brot vandalized with silver paint

The sculpture of the popular children's television character Bernd das Brot in Erfurt, Germany, has been vandalized. Unknown individuals sprayed the approximately two-meter-tall figure with silver paint during the night.

The Erfurt Cultural Directorate described the incident as a significant case of property damage, noting it is the most massive occurrence of its kind targeting the city's KiKA character sculptures. Authorities are currently evaluating whether the figure can be cleaned gently or if extensive restoration work is required. The total cost of the damage has not yet been determined.
